The REGON number (Rejestr Gospodarki Narodowej) is a unique identification number assigned to legal and natural persons engaged in business activities in Poland. It serves to verify and identify economic entities in the national statistical registry.
The REGON number consists of 9 or 14 digits:
- 9 digits – for sole proprietors (individual entrepreneurs).
- 14 digits – for large legal entities and organizations that have branches or divisions in different Voivodeships.

The REGON number is required for:

How to Obtain a REGON Number in Poland
Currently, in Poland, the REGON number is automatically assigned when registering a new business. The only exception applies to sole proprietors and companies registered online through the S24 system. New entrepreneurs must take the following steps to obtain a REGON number:
- Register with CEIDG (Central Registration and Information on Business) — for individuals.
- Register with KRS (National Court Register) — for legal entities.
Upon registration, you will automatically receive a REGON number. It will be provided after processing your application.
How to Check a Company by its REGON Number in Poland
You can verify company information using the REGON number through several official websites:
- The official GUS (Central Statistical Office) website – the “REGON” section contains a database where you can enter the number and retrieve company information.
